Company Profile

Meet Ronel Bantjes, Head: Marketing and Public Relations

Dynamic and dedicated, Ronel combines the roles of client relationships, business development, marketing and media. She also heads up the Mergence Sustainability Committee and serves on the ABSIP and Anti-Racism Network of South Africa’s Western Cape steering committee.

Ronel’s career in financial services spans over 21 years when she joined Goldman Sachs in London in 1995. Upon her return to South Africa in 1997, she joined Coronation Fund Managers. From 2003 to 2008, she held the position of Business Development Manager at African Harvest Fund Managers and Sygnia Asset Management. Her interest in marketing led her to join the RisCura marketing team in 2008 but she was lured back to business development by Peregrine iQ (now Vunani Fund Managers) in 2009. Ronel joined Mergence in 2010 as Business Development Manager in order to combine two functions focusing on client retention, product development, institutional business growth and marketing strategy.

Being brought up in Paarl, in a family where she cultivated a love for singing and nature, it is not surprising that singing and exploring the outdoors within Southern Africa made up a big part of her schooling and university career. In her mid-twenties she developed a passion for exploring foreign countries, cultures, their arts and architecture which she still does when she gets the opportunity.
